about
Dr. Gregory Haughton

Success is not just about talent—it’s about resilience, mentorship, and mindset. Dr. Gregory Orlando Haughton knows this firsthand. His journey from an inner-city neighborhood in Jamaica to the Olympic podium and later to the classroom as a professor and leadership consultant is a testament to the power of determination, transformation, and the right guidance.

A three-time Olympic medalist, World Champion, Goodwill Games Champion, and Pan American Games Champion, Dr. Haughton’s success on the track was only the beginning. He understood early on that success is not just about speed; it’s about strategy, mental endurance, and having the right coaches and mentors. That lesson became evident as he transitioned beyond athletics into academia, leadership, and personal growth coaching.

After earning his PhD in Business Management from North Central University, Dr. Haughton merged his elite athletic discipline with academic excellence to develop a powerful leadership philosophy that empowers emerging leaders, professionals, and athletes alike to unlock their full potential and lead confidently.

But his story isn’t just about accolades; it’s about overcoming real-life challenges.

Growing up in Jamaica, Dr. Haughton learned to turn adversity into motivation rather than an excuse for failure. His life took a defining turn when he received an athletic scholarship to Central Arizona, proving that talent, combined with opportunity and discipline, could break any cycle of limitation.

His greatest challenge, however, came off the track. While pursuing his PhD, his wife was diagnosed with colon cancer—a battle that ultimately took her life. Left to raise their two and seven-year-old daughters alone, Dr. Haughton faced a crossroads. It was during this time that his leadership philosophy was truly tested. Would he allow this tragedy to derail his future, or would he find the strength to push forward? He chose the latter.

That experience solidified his belief that experience alone is not the best teacher— the right mindset, mentorship, and emotional intelligence are. Today, as a professor, leadership coach, and CEO of The Haughton Mentoring Group Inc., he is passionate about sharing his lessons with those navigating life’s transitions, career growth, and leadership challenges.

Dr. Haughton mentors individuals to develop emotional and psychological awareness, teaching them how to harness adversity as fuel for success. He helps emerging leaders, professionals, and athletes recognize that they can achieve far more than they believe—if they are willing to break free from limiting beliefs and take intentional actions.

His leadership principles focus on:

✅ Strategic mindset development – training leaders to think and act clearly and confidently.

✅ Emotional intelligence – helping individuals manage stress, conflict, and decision-making with self-awareness.

✅ Overcoming limiting beliefs – breaking free from past realities that prevent personal and professional success.

✅ Mentorship-driven success – recognizing that great leaders don’t rise alone; they learn from those who have walked the path before them.

His mentorship and coaching philosophy have already transformed the lives of many. From athletes transitioning into leadership, corporate professionals stepping into management roles, to entrepreneurs seeking to lead their businesses with confidence—his methods are proven, practical, and life-changing.

"True leadership is not about power—it’s about transformation. The strongest leaders understand themselves, overcome personal and professional barriers, and take intentional action toward growth. I help individuals do exactly that." – Dr. Gregory Orlando Haughton
